Free Occupational Therapy & Lactation Consulting
Care that follows compassion, not a budget. Free, culturally congruent occupational therapy and lactation support for mothers, women, birthing individuals, and their infants.
Developmental Delay: Even when developmental concerns are caught, Black children are significantly less likely to be diagnosed with a developmental delay before kindergarten, even after accounting for cognitive ability, and less likely to receive services once they are diagnosed.
Feeding: Black mothers initiate breastfeeding at 69.4%, compared to 85.9% of white mothers. By 6 months, only 44.7% of Black infants are still being breastfed at all, compared to 62% of white infants, and just 36% are exclusively breastfed at 3 months compared to 53% of white infants.
Culturally Congruent Care: Only 4% of occupational therapists nationally identify as Black, and lactation professionals in LA County remain overwhelmingly white, so families rarely get to work with a clinician who shares their background or understands the cultural context they are navigating.
This program exists because cost should not determine the accessibility or quality of care. It aims to remove cost barriers for families and pay clinicians equitable rates.
Free Developmental Playgroup
Not Your Average Playgroup. It's play with purpose.
This therapist-led playgroup combines play with occupational therapy expertise in child development. Through intentional play, infants have opportunities to build movement, the foundation for communication, problem-solving, sensory regulation, and early social-emotional skills.
Caregivers learn how to recognize developmental needs, use practical strategies at home, and build confidence, connection, and community as they learn alongside other families navigating the same season of life.
Our playgroup creates a space where families can ask questions, share experiences, and connect with support before concerns become bigger challenges. Research has shown that supported playgroups can improve children's play skills and are associated with stronger developmental outcomes, while peer support can help reduce the risk of perinatal depression.
