What is bodywork?
Bodywork is a broad term for hands-on techniques that support your baby’s movement, feeding, and overall comfort. Gentle forms of bodywork work with the skin, fascia, and muscles to release tension, support nervous system regulation, and restore balance and symmetry. When combined with occupational therapy, this approach can meaningfully improve function.
Your baby’s body is incredibly adaptive and responsive. Through skilled, gentle touch, bodywork can help ease tissue restrictions, support optimal development, and address feeding-related challenges. Read more about the benefits of bodywork.
Will your baby benefit from bodywork?
Bodywork may be supportive if your baby is experiencing any of the following:
Feeding challenges – Difficulty latching, painful breastfeeding, tongue, lip, or cheek restrictions, or narrow jaw opening for effective latch
Tension related to birth – Cesarean birth, vacuum or forceps delivery, a prolonged pushing phase, or breech positioning
Head and neck concerns – Torticollis, head turning preference, or flattening of the head (plagiocephaly)
Digestive discomfort – Reflux, colic, excessive gas, or difficulty settling
Body asymmetry – Uneven movement patterns, stiffness, or difficulty lying comfortably on both sides
Which bodywork techniques do we use?
Every baby is unique, which is why each session is individualized to your baby’s specific needs. Our approach may include a combination of the following gentle techniques:
✅ Craniosacral Therapy
✅ Myofascial Release
✅ Total Motion Release® for Tots
✅ Infant Massage
As a licensed occupational therapist specializing in infant feeding and development, we integrate these techniques to support not only mobility, but also functional skills such as feeding, comfort, and early play.
